When Constantine Highborough, London's adored scoundrel, meets Isabelle Rossmore, her silver grey eyes and scathing opinion cause him to question every detail of his complicated existence. Perpetuating a dual lifestyle is difficult and while he gives the appearance of having the world on a string, his emotions are often tied in tight knots.
Isabelle has traveled to London against her better judgment and would like nothing more than to return to her predictable country existence; yet her stepmother is determined to win the heart of London's most celebrated rakehell, the same man who appears in Isabelle's path at every turn.
In an atmosphere fraught with conflict, action, and complicated emotion, Isabelle discovers society's games are none she wishes to play, while Constantine realizes his life has little meaning beyond the sycophantic adoration of the ton.
